Projects

As Impian Anak is a new project, we start with the support of some children. For these children, we make a plan, in consultation with the children themselves, their parents and Mohni. In most cases the assistance will be paying (a part of) the costs of education.

Education

In principle, elementary school in Indonesia is provided by the government. So school is free, but there are still some things parents have to pay when a child attends school;  school uniforms, writing materials, books etc.
When children go to Highschool, transportation usually costs a lot of money.

The cost for one year elementary school is approximately € 35,00 per year. The cost for Highschool and other training are very different, depending on the type of school, the distance from home to school, etc. Roughly, the cost for one year of (Junior) Highschool will be between € 125,00 and € 200,00.

So, for every child, we want to make a plan how much money is needed, and see if the parents can contribute a part of this amount.

If we help a child financially, we don't give the money for education to the child or to it's family. Instead we buy the things that are needed to attend school. So we can be sure the money will be spent in the way it is supposed to be, for the education of the child.

Health

Other kinds of assistance can be needed as well. For example healthcare. In Lombok healthcare is often to expensive for people, with the result that children often walk around with diseases or disorders that are relatively easy to cure or relieve. For instance by providing glasses, hearing aid etc. But often the parents simply don’t have enough money for these things.

In such cases, we also want to offer help.

Environment

If all this thing go well, we also want to look at the environment children live in. For instance by providing a water tank to a village. Thus, several families who do not have water at home, yet have access to safe, clean drinking water.

What we find very important is that if we start helping a child, we can continue that help during the rest of the child’s school-carreer.
So basically, we don’t want to “release” a child before it has completed school. Because then they are able to take care of themselves, and perhaps also of other people in their environment.
